Creature Comforts
So if you've been around here a while you know about my odd children and their propensity for taping informational signs to objects around our house. Since I've got nothing else to post right now, I thought I'd treat you to another example.
This one requires a bit of explanation. I tend to sit for long periods of time at our kitchen table, on a hard wooden chair. Since I don't have a lot of, er, natural padding, I usually put some kind of pillow on the chair. We have a stuffed cheetah that works nicely. Yes, I sit on a stuffed cheetah. Stay with me.
Recently it was "pajama day" at my kids' school, which meant... well, hopefully I don't have to explain that part. In addition to wearing their pajamas, the kids were allowed to bring a stuffed animal to school. My 7 year old son chose to take the cheetah pillow. Thoughtfully, he replaced it with another pillow, evidently named "Wampy" (pronounced "wompy"). I can only assume it was named for its wamping properties.
I found the following sign taped to my chair:

A close-up of the sign. (Sorry, it's a little fuzzy.)

In case you can't read it, it says:
Ain't that sweet?

Kids are awesome. Thanks for the smile! :)
That is just spectacularly precious.
I am beaming ear to ear. Save that note. Don't you just love how he bridged around the corrected "with?" Awesome.
To me it looks like he is going to 'brian' cheetah to pj day. Maybe it's just the fuzzy picture?
Do you or your wife leave a lot of notes?
That IS one wampin' pillow.
wonderful.... brings back great memories of when mine were small... my daughter and the tooth fairy had a very lengthy correspondence going. I often put notes around the place for my husband; they mostly read you can talk to me, not the computer.
I have to ask, what is wamping? Can't find it in my thesaurus or trusty dictionary... doh!!!!
Tooooo cute!! Love the WAMPIN' pillow! :) I think it's so cute that your kids leave notes around the house! Sweet!
You know you're loved when your children care about you by sharing their wampy pillow...
Why this country doesn't have a Children's Day, honoring children like we should, is beyond me.
that is seriously the cutest thing!! what a sweet child!
wampy!!!! can i use that name? i love it!
Thanks, everybody. He is an awfully sweet kid.
Sorry I haven't been around much lately; been having technical difficulties with my laptop.
Wamp (v) WHAMP: To strike someone with a large, soft object such as a pillow.
Usage: You'd better not be floaming, or I'm gonna wamp you!
Can't wrap my brain around the concept of PJ Day. Not in February 'round heah, it's wicked cold. I'd have been terrified confronting my grade school teachers in PJs. Never mind a pillow. Any pillow. A cheetah pillow?!? For punishment, they would have escorted me to the girl's room.
[sigh] Count your blessings ...
It was PJ day at the local elementary school here last Friday. My nieces just love it and think it's so fun to see everyone's PJs. Our youngest niece brought her teddy bear to school with her (part of her attire, of course)! She insisted on bringing her HUGE teddy bear (I swear, it's almost as tall as me! I'm a shorty at only 5'1"). Obviously, my SIL did not permit her to bring that teddy bear to school :)
How very sweet! That's a keeper! D :)
Who - or, erm, what - is "Wompy"?
you know Diesel, i'll be HAPPY to be your (much) older sister, if that means i also get to be "Auntie Neva" to those adorable kids of yours. Wampy? that's almost too cute. xox
That is just too adorable! You must save that note (although I don't need to tell you that I am sure). Funniest thing - my mother had a cat named Wampy (pronounced Wompy) when she was a little girl all those years ago. Wait til I tell her he's been reincarnated.
ya got to love those notes, I hope you save them all in a big note book with pictures and personal notes of your own.
Apparently I didn't read this post very carefully the first time; that's what I get for going right for the pictures!!!!
That's funny and cute as hell. Same kind of things my daughter's do.
How thoughtful! You did something right with that kid.
I work at an elementary school and I hate pj day! The kids go berserk. My special guys really have a problem with it, cuz it knocks 'em outa their routine. Thank god for Poppy and Tessie- the amazing therapy rats. Worth their weight in gold...
"Yes, I sit on a stuffed cheetah"
So...you got some kind of Tarzan thing goin' on there Diesel?
Sniff Sniff ... my whole childhood all I ever wanted was a pillow that could wamp ... but my parents could never find one. Too bad we didn't live in CA, where I hear wampin pillows come cheap.
THAT is one of the sweetest things I've ever seen...I bet you were one smilin' pop all the day long!
Sorry once again for not keeping up with the comments. I'm fighting with my PC right now and I'm losing. Time to reinstall Windows again. Where's Wampy when I need him?
Oh that's so cute! :)
That really is sweet!
OK, that is SuperCute. ^_^
Wompy? Do they WOMP each other with it? Mine would. :-P
I tape SIGNS around the house too!
