Did Someone Say "House"?

Recently I've done a treehouse post and a Dr. House post, so I thought it was about time I did a plain old house post. Here's some pics of the addition we're building. "Addition" is kind of a misnomer, since we're adding about 2,000 square feet to a 1,200 square foot house.

Here's a view from another angle. That's the palm tree oasis I just planted in the front. Neat, huh? To the left you can just see the driveway that we just poured that leads to our faux garage door. It's like one of those "drawers" in front of your sink that doesn't actually open. Except that people probably don't sleep in your sink.

This one is just a fabulous shot of the mobile home and above-ground pool next to our house. Also, I thought the sky was kind of cool.

Did I mention that we get some way cool evening skies around these parts in the spring? This was taken facing the opposite direction, toward the orchard behind our house.

And another one of the same cool sky, nicely framed by the opening of a future window. Too bad those troublemakers got in the way again.

I'll be back with more of the usual nonsense on Wednesday. And don't forget, this Friday I'll post the next caption contest pic!

People don't usually sleep in the garage, either.

Love the pics, especially of your very good looking kids, smiling and hugging each other!

Robin - In this case, they do. The "garage" is actually our bedrooms until the rest of the house is done. Then it really will be a garage, with a real garage door.

Pavel - Aren't they cute? It's nice to have kids that get along so well. At least most of the time.

The shot of the sky is amazing. And I have to say, your kids make the sky look better in the picture of them.

Wow! Impressive house, fantastic blog, adorable kids - you are a lucky guy. You going to put up a matching house in a tree for Climber? I stumbled across your blog at Central Snark and can't get enough. Really funny blogs are like a dog that speaks, very rare. Blogs like yours that are funny all the time are like a dog that speaks Norwegian, even rarer (You can tell I watch too much Blackadder). Anyway, I had to share this new found gem so I put a link to you on my blog: http://rainypamplona.blogspot.com/

The skies look beautiful.

Can't get good child labour these days, eh? Look at them goofing off again! And you bought that kid's excuse about having an injured arm. Shame on you. Put them to work!

I love the sky you get...we still have Northern Lights every now and then. Bloody cold here in April still!

Skul - I want to watch when they plant that tree!

Furiousball - We've been having a lot of those surreal skyscapes lately. And of course the kids are always nice to look at.

Robin - I wasn't sure if you had forgotten I sleep in the garage. Also, I'm a little slow. You certainly are devoted. I was going through some of my old posts and I think you're my most consistent commenter. Thanks for your support!

Wreckless - I certainly am. Blessed, even.

Patience - It's one of Ripon's water towers. There are 2 of them, about equidistant from my house. If you ever drive down highway 99, you'll see them.

Neva - Thanks! I think.

Theresa - Wow, thanks. And thanks for the link. I'll stop by soon. :)

Boob Lady - With my house or my kids? Because I might be willing to sell one of the kids.

G - There is no earthly explanation for children that cute.

Zoning - LOL! It does look like I made my children in Photoshop, doesn't it? Thanks for the kind words.

MacBros - Sweet! Thanks!

Tanya - The funny thing is, Climber was actually trying to help me move bricks for a retaining wall the other day, rolling them with his one good arm. I'm glad nobody from social services came by.

IZ - My daughter had a freakish resemblance to me when she was born. Luckily she is growing out of it.

Minka - Yes, the addition is bigger than the house. Essentially we are building the house in stages. It will be nice to have actual bedrooms. Get here early on Friday! Or is it late Thursday for you?

If your kids don't stop hugging each other and being so generally lovely, I'm going to have to come over there and get them.

There are many days when you no doubt would love that plan.

Close Encounters would have been so much more believable had they all been programmed to meet at the Ripon Water Tower. Think about it. Just look at the beaming faces of those ecstatic Dieselitos. They embrace in joy.
